Become an American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver® Instructor and empower others with vital life-saving skills. This course equips participants to teach AHA Heartsaver courses—including CPR/AED, First Aid, Pediatric First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens—to individuals in the workplace, schools, and community settings.

The curriculum blends engaging online self-study with hands-on, instructor-led classroom training, covering instructional techniques, student assessment, and the use of AHA teaching materials. 

What you’ll learn:

  • How to teach and facilitate AHA Heartsaver courses using official materials

  • Student engagement, skills demonstrations, and performance feedback

  • AHA program standards and course completion requirements

  • Administrative skills—issuing course completion cards and completing documentation

  • Maintaining instructor status and ongoing alignment with an AHA Training Site

Course Includes:

  • Online Heartsaver Instructor Essentials module

  • Classroom teaching and skills practice

  • Faculty mentorship and course monitoring

  • Access to AHA resources and updates

Prerequisites:

  • Current AHA Heartsaver or BLS Provider certification

  • Proficiency in all related life-saving skills

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Alignment with an authorized AHA Training Site

After successfully completing the course, instructor candidates will enter a mentoring phase—teaching under observation—before gaining authorization to conduct Heartsaver courses independently and issue official completion cards

To successfully become an instructor, you must:

1.  Complete Heartsaver Total Provider 
2.  Complete the “Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Online”.  
3.  Complete Heartsaver Instructor Course
4.  Complete Mentoring Phase

You’ll receive your online course link via email shortly after
registration. While it typically arrives within 3 hours, our system may
take a bit longer to process registrations received late at night. We
appreciate your patience!

Timing:

  • Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your course start time.
  • To avoid traffic congestion, especially during rush hour, consider using public transportation.
  • Late arrivals will forfeit the course, and no refunds or rescheduling will be offered.as per our Terms & Conditions.

Parking:

  • Metered parking is available on:
    • Queens Blvd between 35th and 37th Street
    • Skillman Ave between 35th and 37th Street

Transit:

  • 7 Train – 33rd Rawson Station

Citibike Dropoff:

  • Queens Blvd & 36th street
  • Queens Blvd & 33rd Street

No refunds. All course sales are final. Refunds are not given for any participant who does not attend their scheduled course.  Refunds are not given to participants who do not pass their in-person course.  

Participants who do not pass their in-person course must re-enroll for another course; no refunds will be given. Refunds are not granted to participants who arrive late.
